CILICIA. Tarsus. Commodus, 177-192. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 28 mm, 12.94 g, 12 h), 177-180. ΑΥΤ•ΚΑΙ•ΑΥΡΗ•ΚΟΜΟΔΟѕѪ Bare-headed and cuirassed bust of Commodus to right, wearing aegis. Rev. ΑΔΡΙΑΝΗС ΤΑΡСΟΥ ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛЄΩС Athena standing facing, head to left, holding owl in her right hand and spear and shield with her left. RPC IV online 10272 = SNG Paris 1461 (same obverse die). Extremely rare, apparently the second and by far the best example known. Light deposits, otherwise, very fine.
